Avery is traditionally a boys name. You have never met a boy named Avery because the boys who were named Avery are now men. Avery Johnson was the basketball coach for the Mavericks. We loved the name after watching the newer version of Charlotte's Web. Her little brothers name was Avery. What is great is that we are all entitled to our opinion and the choice to name our kids what we would like. It's like the name Aubry. It is traditionally a boys name also but is being given to girls now.

I personally think it is a female name better than a male name. I named my daughter that a few years back. I have never met a male named Avery before. I think as a male name it was well on it's way out.
